Nykaysia King “Kaysia” (They/Them) was born and raised with their twin brother, in Greenville, NC. They went to East Carolina University for their secondary education and received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology. They also attended graduate school at ECU and received a master’s degree in sociology. Nykaysia plans on going to school one more time to receive their master’s in social work. One day, they would like to become a licensed clinical social worker to provide mental health therapies to marginalized communities.
Nykaysia joined the ENC-HEAL team, at CHPIR/Duke for the opportunity to serve youth through positive youth development. They also joined the team for the chance to utilize their sociological and psychological knowledge in sexual and mental health. They are thrilled with their current position as it gives them the opportunity to serve a diverse youth population in 4 unique settings in 7 ENC counties with the ENC-HEAL team. Their research interests include gender, sexuality, race, intersectionality theory and more!
